This short course aims to help learners become aware that drugs are part of everyday life. It explores some of the causes and consequences of substance and alcohol abuse and the effects on individuals and those around them.
The course looks at why people use drugs and the way society responds to drug use. It consists of one mandatory unit, Develop an awareness of drug use, which is set out in an easy to follow workbook, with step-by-step instructions, and followed by an assessment.
This course provides an introduction to many of the complex issues concerning drugs in society and touches on a number of subjects, including health and diversity. After completing the course, candidates may wish to move on to the Level 2 Certificate in Drug Awareness Studies and their Applications or undertake further study in a related area.
