NVQ Cleaning and Support Services Level 2

Course outline

The NVQ in Cleaning and Support Services has been developed to meet the needs of basic operational cleaning functions of people in the cleaning sector. It offers a formal qualification which can be achieved by those already in the cleaning sector through part-time study.

The qualification also provides a good foundation of knowledge and skills on which to build and develop a career in the diverse area of cleaning and support services.

Course content

The course contains six units, three mandatory and three optional.

Mandatory units:

• C201: Make sure your actions reduce the risks to health and safety
• C202: Communicate effectively with customers and others
• C203: Work as a team and develop yourself

Optional units (only three required):

• C204: Work individually and develop yourself
• C205: Clean and maintain internal surfaces and areas
• C207: Deal with routine waste
• C208: Clean washrooms and replenish supplies
• C213: Clean, maintain and protect hard floors

Progression opportunities

Having successfully completed this qualification, learners may choose to study a Level 3 cleaning programme. Alternatively, they may choose to diversify and progress on to NVQs in Team Leading or Customer Service.
