Introduction to End of Life Care

Employer engagement is a key government priority for colleges and training providers. Tribal has developed the Raising Skills series to meet this agenda providing standardised, high quality learning and support materials for full-cost delivery. The courses are comprehensive, yet concise, and focus on key issues for employers. They are designed to support a range of delivery models, including face-to-face, distance or blended learning.

This concise programme is designed for anyone who wishes to improve their knowledge and understanding of end of life care. It is an ideal programme to support health and social care staff working, in any capacity, with people nearing the end of life and their families.

Course aims

Caring for those approaching the end of life is one of the most significant and rewarding areas of care. To meet the emotional demands and challenges of end of life care, it is vital that staff are equipped with the suitable knowledge, skills and attitudes. This course provides a complete introduction to the principles of end of life care, enabling candidates to provide appropriate support to people in their care who are nearing the end of life.

Tribal’s learning materials explore a holistic approach to end of life care. By following this programme, learners will gain an increased awareness of the processes involved in advance care planning and of the support services available to those nearing the end of life and their families. Candidates will also be encouraged to explore communication skills in an end of life care context and learn ways to overcome any barriers to this.
