Level 2 Award, Certificate and Diploma in Business Skills

Who is it for?

This course is ideal for learners aged 16 and above who need a variety of business skills to carry out their job responsibilities at work. It enables them to demonstrate their abilities in a number of subject areas, making the course suitable for learners who work, or would like to work, in a wide range of sectors.

Course outline

The Level 2 Business Skills programme – part of a suite of business skills qualifications – is based on the national occupational standards from different sectors, including business and administration, customer service, sales, marketing and health and safety. Within the programme there are three different qualifications available:

  • Level 2 Award in Business Skills Candidates need to complete units to a minimum of 10 credits to achieve the qualification.
  • Level 2 Certificate in Business Skills Candidates need to complete units to a minimum of 34 credits to achieve the qualification.
  • Level 2 Diploma in Business Skills Candidates need to complete units to a minimum of 45 credits to achieve the qualification.

The programme will help learners to develop the skills, understanding and experience necessary to be effective in a business environment. By acquiring these skills, learners will be able to improve their performance at work and support employers with a competent workforce.

Course content

The number of credits achieved depends on the units studied and passed. Tribal’s learning materials offer the following units:

  • Carry out your responsibilities at work
  • Provide customer service within the rules
  • Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation
  • Deliver reliable customer service
  • Resolve customer service problems
  • Support customer service improvements
  • Deal with customers in writing or using ICT
  • Work with others to improve customer service

Course delivery and assessment

Candidates will be provided with the course materials that are relevant to their qualification and chosen units. They will be required to work through a series of tasks and activities designed to reinforce the learning process and demonstrate their knowledge. The programme is internally assessed through practical tasks and observation in the workplace with the candidate producing a portfolio of work that covers all learning outcomes.

Progression opportunities

The programme will enable candidates to further their own continuous professional development, improve career prospects or progress to further training. Having successfully achieved this qualification, learners may wish to progress on to further qualifications, such as courses in customer relations, team leading and management, including NVQs.
