Supporting People with a Learning Disability

Who is it for?

This programme is designed for those who work in some capacity with people who have a learning disability. It is ideal for a wide audience; including health-care workers and staff in the education sector.

Course outline

Tribal’s materials meet the requirements of the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 Induction Award in Supporting People with a Learning Disability
  • Level 2 Learning Disability Qualification Induction (compulsory for all staff new to working with people with learning disabilities)

The course introduces learners to the knowledge, understanding and skills that are fundamental to supporting people who have a learning disability. Learners will gain an understanding of the job role and the responsibilities of a worker supporting someone who has a learning disability. The programme outlines the necessity to work in line with current policies and procedures. It also covers the basic knowledge that learners need in order to carry out their work safely.

The course comprises four units:

  • Unit 01: Principles of learning disability support
  • Unit 02: Your role as a learning disability worker
  • Unit 03: Health and safety in a learning disability service
  • Unit 04: Protecting people who have learning disabilities from abuse
