NVQ Driving Goods Vehicles Level 2

Course outline

The NVQ Level 2 in Driving Goods Vehicles is designed with the needs of the goods vehicle industry in mind and aims to provide drivers of such vehicles with evidence of their driving ability. It allows candidates to demonstrate competence in pre-driving checks (including the use of tachographs) and monitoring the loading of goods. It also encourages them to develop safe driving skills and outlines good practice in unloading goods vehicles, coupling and uncoupling vehicles.

Course content

The programme consists of seven mandatory units:

  • Unit 4: Monitoring the loading of the vehicle by others
  • Unit 6: Completing pre-driving preparations
  • Unit 7: Maintaining the safety and security of the load, self and property
  • Unit 8: Maintaining awareness of driving conditions
  • Unit 9: Operating the vehicle systems
  • Unit 10: Driving the vehicle on public roads
  • Unit 11: Driving the vehicle in restricted spaces
