Raising skills for work: Introduction to Infection Control

Employer engagement is a key government priority for colleges and training providers. Tribal has developed the Raising Skills series to meet this agenda providing standardised, high-quality learning and support materials for full-cost delivery. The courses are comprehensive, yet concise, and focus on key issues for employers. They are designed to support a range of delivery models, including face-to-face, distance or blended learning.

Everyone working in a health or care environment needs to be aware of the risk of infection and how it can be minimised. Infections have serious effects on individuals and considerable financial costs to healthcare services. Many of these could be prevented by following good practice guidelines.

This course is designed to provide guidance on ways of working to prevent the spread of infection. The content meets much of the Skills for Care knowledge set for infection control and the requirements regarding infection control in the common induction standards.

At the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Describe the chain of infection
  • Recognise the signs of infection
  • Identify how to prevent the spread of infection
  • Identify good practice in infection control
