This programme aims to help learners to protect themselves and work colleagues by examining violence in the workplace and how to take practical steps to prevent or minimise its incidence and impact. It adopts a preventative approach to violence utilising awareness and calming techniques without resorting to self-defence or personal contact.
This course explains the circumstances in which aggression and violence can occur and emphasises the importance of communication in the preventative approach to conflict management. It goes on to highlight the law in terms of the individual and the organisation and is therefore suitable for anyone, whether it be a learner in a workplace or at home.
The programme has two units, both of which must be completed successfully to achieve the qualification.
Candidates will be provided with course materials for the programme. The learning materials contain the knowledge needed to meet the assessment requirements of the course and activities to allow candidates to practise their skills and test their learning.
Candidates work through the learning materials and complete assessments for each unit. Learning activities and assessments are based on a combination of knowledge and skills learned on the programme and work-based activities and experience.
This programme will give the learner a greater awareness of conflict and how to act in conflict situations. Further study options could include team leading or management courses, or other personal development programmes in areas such as personal safety or diversity.
