Course outline

The BTEC Advanced Award in Tutoring Distance Learners is intended to provide a specialist qualification for the growing numbers of tutors and assessors who are becoming involved in distance learning. Guidance from the Learning Skills Council (LSC) indicates that it is essential to give such tutors and assessors specialist training in respect of their role so that they are properly able to provide distance learners with appropriate support.

Course content

The programme comprises three units, all of which have to be achieved to gain the qualification. Each unit is equivalent to 30 guided learning hours.

• Unit 1: Introduction to distance learning
• Unit 2: Support distance learners
• Unit 3: Improve the quality of distance learning
