NCFE Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety Level 2

Course outline

The course aims to provide learners with an understanding of key health and safety legislation and how to maintain health and safety in the workplace. It also provides wider benefits to the learner and employers, as well as and encouraging a ‘safe practice’ culture.

Course content

The course consists of four units:

  • Unit 1: Introduction to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
  • Unit 2: Hazards, risks and risk assessments
  • Unit 3: Electricity, hazardous substances (COSHH) and fire safety
  • Unit 4: Work equipment (PUWER) personal protective equipment (PPE) and first aid

Progression opportunities

There is a wide range of industry-specific NVQs and other vocational qualifications that include aspects of health and safety, which the learner may wish to consider on completion of this Level 2 programme.
