who is it for?

This qualification is ideal for learners who are working in the health care sector already (including cleaners, maintenance staff, administrators, catering staff, doctors, porters, health care assistants and nursing staff), who wish to support their professional development. The programme is also suitable for those who are considering a career in the health care sector.

course outline

The Certificate for Working in the Health Sector has been mapped to the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework (NHS KSF) and gives learners the opportunity to investigate a work role within the health care sector. It also meets the requirements of the technical certificate for the Health Apprenticeship Framework.

Specifically designed for the health sector, the qualification will enable learners to recognise the importance of effective communication in the workplace. Learners will also develop an understanding of health and safety and quality standards, whilst helping them to identify personal development needs and issues surrounding equality and diversity.
