The NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Diabetes Awareness is designed for those working in the healthcare sector who wish to increase their awareness of diabetes in order to support their clients. However, it will also be of interest to anyone with diabetes, or those with friends/relatives with diabetes, who wish to know more about the condition.
Over two million people in England currently have diabetes with numbers set to rise as obesity levels increase. This timely programme outlines the principles of diabetes and also discusses how to manage the condition, through diet, exercise and attitude. The course also looks at social issues around diabetes (such as job discrimination) and explores prevention, complications and care.
The NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Diabetes Awareness comprises four units.
Candidates will be provided with the course materials for the programme and will be required to work through a series of tasks and activities designed to reinforce the learning process and test their knowledge. This qualification is internally assessed with the candidate completing a written assignment that covers all learning outcomes.
A comprehensive tutor guide is supplied to accompany these materials. To view a sample of a tutor guide, click here.
The programme will enable candidates to further their own continuous professional development, improve career prospects or progress to further training. Having successfully achieved this qualification, the learner may wish to progress on to further qualifications, such as courses in health and social care, including NVQs.
