The qualification is ideal for learners who work in an environment where there is direct contact with children. This includes youth workers, care workers, local authority staff, school support staff and voluntary workers.
The Level 2 Award in Safeguarding Children and Young People aims to enable learners to understand what is meant by safeguarding and the different ways in which children and young people can be harmed (including by other children and young people and through the Internet). It aims to develop the skills and knowledge needed to safeguard the welfare of children and young people and will be a valuable programme for anyone who has regular contact with children as part of their job role.
The programme is split into three mandatory units:
Candidates will be provided with the course materials for the programme and will be required to work through a series of tasks and activities designed to reinforce the learning process and test their knowledge.
This course will be useful to anyone working with children or who wants to develop a career in this area. Having successfully achieved this qualification, the learner may wish to progress on to further qualifications concerned with childcare, teaching or health and social care.
