The programme has been designed for people who are employed in a warehousing, distribution and/or storage role, such as warehouse staff who undertake a range of complex or non-routine work activities. The programme identifies the competences needed for the effective operations of a warehouse outlet. Candidates will develop skills to demonstrate competence in contributing to keeping the workplace secure, safe and healthy and also to work effectively within the organisation.
The course comprises three mandatory units and five optional units. The mandatory units are those which are relevant to all and the optional units are designed to be relevant to specific job roles, allowing candidates to choose units most relevant to them.
Each unit contains tasks and activities designed to cover the specific learning outcomes.
Candidates will be provided with the course materials for the programme and will be required to work through a series of tasks and activities designed to reinforce the learning process and test their knowledge. Each candidate is assessed on their ability to perform tasks competently, and whether they have the correct knowledge and understanding to be competent at those tasks.
The assessment is undertaken by a qualified assessor who examines evidence of competence. The qualification does not have an examination or end test. Instead, because the qualification is a vocational one built around job roles, it is designed to be assessed in the workplace and the qualification structure supports this by breaking down job roles into key tasks. Each unit deals with a key task and some of the units are then broken down into elements to deal with more specific activities.
Having successfully achieved this qualification, the learner may wish to progress on to further study around logistics and distribution, or might consider a qualification in team leading or management if relevant to their circumstances.
