NCFE Certificate in Sustainable Development Level 2

Course outline

This qualification aims to raise awareness in response to the DfES and LSC agendas on sustainable development. Candidates will look at the background to sustainable development and at how the principles of sustainable development can be introduced and used to make an organisation more successful. The practical nature of the assessment makes it suitable for school, college and workplace delivery.

Course content

The course consists of two units:

• Unit 1: Explore and understand principles and benefits of sustainable development
• Unit 2: Plan, apply and evaluate sustainable development practice

Course delivery and assessment

Candidates will be provided with the course materials for the programme and will be required to work through a series of tasks and activities designed to reinforce the learning process and test their knowledge. This course is assessed through practical tasks and the practical nature of the assessment makes it suitable for school, college and workplace delivery.

Progression opportunities

The course will be useful to anyone in employment or in education and of particular value to those wishing to develop a career in sustainable development. Having successfully achieved this qualification, the learner may wish to progress on to further qualifications, such as the NCFE Level 3 Certificate for the Environmental Practitioner.
